What do you see? is a project made in collaboration with technology and AI. Using a custom python image processing script and captions generated by Moondream AI, I re-imagined images and videos. I was inspired by ascii art and the history of images on the internet.

I was inspired to make this project because current opinions of technology and AI in the art world are developing rapidly. There is widespread hatred and fear towards AI generated content. I wish to pose a different view, a collaborative partnership. The positive application of technology and AI that I have chosen to highlight is image captioning, used for accessibility.

I recognize the negative environmental impacts of corporate AI models such as ChatGPT, therefore I have chosen Moondream AI, which is a small Visual Language Model (VLM) that is locally run on my own hardware.
